Koleksi 'buku indah' ini sudah disimpan lebih dari sepuluh tahun, judulnya :

Western View of the Middle Kingdom
Walaupun sudah banyak sekali buku yang menceritakan sejarah China, namun buku 'sejarah sosial bergambar indah' ini menyoroti berbagai aspek tradisional Cina yang dilihat melalui mata pengunjung asing dan penduduk dari saat kontak perdagangan pertama dengan Cina pada pertengahan abad keenam belas hingga awal Perang Dunia II. Ratusan gambar yang ditampilkan di China Illustrated, termasuk ukiran awal dan peta, cetakan berwarna tangan, potret studio dan foto amatuer, kartu pos, gambar dan kartun berasal dari koleksi pribadi Arthur Haeker, disusun olehnya sehingga menghidupkan sejarah sosial Tiongkok. Bahasa Inggris sebagai bahasa pengantarnya.

almost 50 years the Empress Dowager Tzu His was de facto ruler of China. The
